HELLO & WELCOME!
Thank you for making your way to this part of the internet. We all live busy lives, so I understand the importance of choosing how and where to spend your time. I’m grateful for whatever led you here. Your time is valuable, so let’s keep it moving…
THE FIRST QUESTION YOU HAVE IS PROBABLY…What is a Doula?
Doulas are trained professionals that provide emotional and physical support to birthing people and their partners. Depending on the type of doula you choose to work with support will be provided in the prenatal period through the first year postpartum. Support could look like helping to develop and execute a birth plan, an extra set of knowledgable hands during and after the laboring process, providing additional education if needed, and helping to design and implement a healthy schedule postpartum for baby.
About me
Hi, I’m Britney(she/her).
I am a birth and postpartum doula serving all types of families and birthing people in the Charlotte area. A deeply held belief in intersectionality guides my path to this line of service.
As a Black, queer, childless woman, I want to give others the encouragement to advocate for themselves and have the birthing and postpartum experience they dream of. I was privileged to be granted a diversity scholarship through the International Doula Institute for full-spectrum training (Birth, Postpartum, Advocacy, and Breastfeeding) so I want to use that to serve in an empathetic manner.
Outside of doula work, I recently received an MS in human nutrition. I also offer 1-on-1 wellness guidance sessions where we focus on designing the path to your nutrition goals. All of my offerings are specific to each clients needs and I emphasize our collaborative relationship in order to achieve milestones.
I’m a Charlotte native but have lived in SC and NY during my pursuit of a professional dance performance career. I consider myself a creative person who “colors outside of the lines” with just about everything I do. I love learning new things, spending time outdoors, trying new foods and restaurants, and catching up with friends.
